K7 vs. UV777BK - comparing the two

has any body compared these two models yet? I would be interested in the differences as far as sound and playability.

K7 vs. UV777BK

Has anyone realy had a chance to compare?
Its not like the k-7 is available to the public yet. The UV rocks though. I guess the only ones that can respond here are people who got to handle a demo of the k-7

Sound and playability are impossible to figure out right now. No one can get their hands on one yet. But if you want to run down the cosmetics...Well hey I'm ready.

Lets see....UV=pickguard * * * * * * * K7= no pickguard
* * * * * * * UV=H-S-H * * * * * * * * * * * K7=H-H
* * * * * * * UV= DiMarzio Blaze II's *K7=DiMazrio Paf7's
* * * * * * * UV=No Ubar * * * * * * * * * K7=Ubar
* * * * * * * UV= UV neck profile * * * *K7= K7 neck profile
* * * * * * * UV=Tone knob * * * * * * * *K7=No tone knob
* * * * * * * UV= Basswood * * * * * * * K7=Mahogany

Hmm...Thats all I can think of as of now...If I forgot anything please post..

this is assuming they have the angled-jack, which they most likely do.

Well, i wouldn't exactly call big-ass mother-of-pearl disappearing pyramids "standard" inlay.

Usually when i'm playing i'm not looking at the face of the neck, so i can do without them altogether. if anything, i like just something small at the 12th fret or small dots along the top edge of the fretboard face. I mostly use the dots along the edge for reference.

Why not consider the 1077XL?

I have a two questions. First, I have never had the chance of seeing a uv in person, how does it's neck compare to a 7620's neck? Second, if anyone's tried it, how does the k-7's neck compare to the 7620's neck? *

Noodles, The neck is kinda’ like a DNA/New Jem in feel… only wider of course. From fingerboard to back of neck is quite narrow in comparison to other non-Ibanez 7-strings.

My only comment on the UV777BK-vs-K-7 topic… IMO, the UV777BK sure looks a lot more interesting.

I'm with you on that, I wish it looked a little more like the like the custom 7-strings they used before getting a signature model.

oh hell yea! Those things are pieces of crap compared to THEIR custom models. Theirs is like top of the line...the best Ibanez can build. They want their endorsee to sound and look as good as possible and out of the million different custom guitars Ibanez has built them (well, really maybe 20 or so between the both of them) Their guitars are like USA custom stuff like made in the L.A Custom shop and crap. I saw this SWEET one Munky had it was red with white hardware it was so awesome. I dont know if they sell old ones they dont use anymore...They probably have them locked up somewhere. But if they sold those...Wow how much those would go for...Or that S series 7 string with a FIXED BRIDGE (AHHHH!!!!!!!) and it was NECK THRU CONSTRUCTION!!! (that one was for wes borland) * Man i swear if anyone sees that thing on E-bay...IM SELLING THE HOUSE!!!

hehehehehehehe sleep

cw

p.s- didnt want to sound like i was knocking the K-7 by calling them "pieces of crap". I'm sure it's a great guitar. As are all the other Japanese (and Korean) Ibanez guitars... blah blah blah im goin to bed

My guess is Head and Munky wanted something really nice(like the uv7pbk) and ibanez afraid that it would be too expensive for most Korn fans put them on a budget, and or make sure they still had good(non baritone) at a decent price. If thats the case ibanez failed. Or maybe Head and Munky just wanted something slightly scaled down. I doubt we will ever know.

If I end up going for the prestige baritone then I'm gonna be slightly pissed because my only other 7-string(a 7620) happens to also be royal blue. Oh well.

All I meant was the positions on the neck (3,5,7 etc), not the actual inlay type. *I figured someone might not quite get what I meant, no big deal.

K, here it is, one is Vai, one is Korn....or......one is cool, one is crap,
Just kidding, I'm curious about how these things play, I don't like Korn and I think they killed the K7 with the inlay and no tone control, but I'm always curious about a new axe. *I just can't figure why they are soooo much more than an RG when really, I don't think they are even as much of a guitar.
Oh well, just my opinion
