K7 - Why Didn't It Work? (Besides The Obvious)

I was watching my Family Values '98 video (yes, I know) and got to thinking about Ibanez as I frequently do. *I started thinking, without the RG-7620 to sell to Korn fans, why didn't they pick up the K7? *Well, keeping in mind I'm not going to discuss the inlay, or the price (although I'm sure those are major factors as well), the reason it flopped is TIMING. *Why the heck did they release a signiture model for a band that hasn't released an album since 2000? *And then come out with ANOTHER signature model (K5)? *I mean, come on, isn't anyone at Ibanez thinking? *How is Korn going to pick up new fans without a new album. *I figure, the fans that they already had, probably bought a 7620 while they were still around, before the K7 was even an idea. *So, who's going to buy the K7? *

i think it's rather obvious that the PRICING is an issue here first and foremost, in addition to the fact that unlike Vai or Satch, Korn doesn't necessarily attract an audience of devout "guitarists". Maybe the bulk of Korn CD buyers are just some kids who like loud music that happens to come from a 7-string. Timing always helps too ...glen
