Korn 7-string
Courtesy or none, Korn is one of the bands solely responsible for yet another downturn in modern heavy music trends. *Then again, *compared to SPOCK's BEARD, (Worst prog rock band in EXISTANCE! "West Coast Dream Theater my A$$!!) Korn sounds great! lol! I wont be buying the K-7, *simply because I *actually practice
playing guitar
, and that axe is a symbol for those who have given up chasing Steve Vai and
Allan Holdsworth
. *

I was jsut informed this about the U Bar, but I don't quite understand the reference.
"The coolest thing from my point, the arm can be placed in backwards so you can play the tremolo like a Palm pedal. Too cool."

Rich,
I'd say that it means simply that you could pop it out, and hang it forward instead of over the tuners, thus creating a palmable bar, sort of like those ones that the Kahlers had as an option on some of them. Hope that makes sense... if you can picture it; turn it around and re-insert it hanging over the strings... An interesting idea, I guess.

Rich, your prestigious standing here means simply this; you get that one for free.
It occurs to me that the twin sockets would also cater to those who might like to have that odd hybrid lefty/righty type of arrangement by using the 'wrong' socket, like
Stevie Ray
's old Strat - the bridge being that of a lefty guitar, hence the bar hanging down from the top side of the bridge. Very Jimi, also.
... of course, this would mean having to find or create the correct bend orientation in the bar itself for proper lefty function. Hmmm...

I'll just pretend I didnt read that one reply.
but anyway.. I was just looking through my old magazines and i came across some pictures of Korn's original k-7's or what i would guess as the protos.
It was in
Guitar mag
early '99. Munkey is sporting a compltely red one with white hardware (its actually pretty sweet looking) Only odd thing about this one is that there is no tree behind the nut (like all the other Ibanez 7's) and it apears to just say munkey on the headstock where it would ussualy say RG series.
Head's is a pretty cool grey to black burst, and follows the specs of the K-7 pretty well (including a glimps at a second socket for the U-bar) *The only odd thing about this one is that *the Ibanez logo on the headstock looks like a prestige logo without it saying prestige (so its just a little bitty ibanez)
Other than that these guitars look exactly like the K-7. I havent seen much of the red one being played, but i have seen Heads grey one quite a bit. Also neither one had binding on the body. Just on the neck. Which is odd becuase later that year they got new guitars with total binding. humm
anyway just thought it was kinda cool

I have pictures of their guitars without a tree behind the nut, though I don't know why they did that. Munky's was an rg7 w/ black hardware,
white pickguard
,
sunburst finish
, clearcoated headstock(like fenders), white single coil in the neck and a black hum in the bridge. I don't really like it stock but it would have been fun to customize.

I just saw that the new k-7 is already for sale on ***************.com (overpriced mail order arm of GC) Anyway, other than
neck binding
and color matched headstock, doesn't seem that much different from an rg7620 in royal blue or grey nickel. For the money you think they would make it more unmistakable from a more common rg (or even make it look like the guitars that these 2 have actually played, those are much better)

One good thing about the new bar thing it also replaces the
monkey grip
and would probably make doing the Butler shake harder to break the bar.

Well these guitar looks nice indeed. But to me it looks a bit too plain to be a
signature guitar
. A signature guitar should always be somehow special. Now. The K-7 looks pretty much like a normal Rg7***.
