Lo-Trs7

Is the Lo-Trs7 a good trem? I am thinking of buying a '99 7620VK tomorrow and the trem is a black, stock Lo-Trs7 and i was wondering what people think about these trems. Thanks.

Re: Lo-Trs7

A 7620VK should have the Lo-Pro Edge 7 on it.

Re: Lo-Trs7

I talked the seller on the phone and he was looking right at the guitar and he said the trem had Lo-Trs stamped right on it. The guitar also has black hardware and isn't it true that the Lo-Pro was never made in black?

Re: Lo-Trs7

The LoPro Edge 7 came in black. If the trem has TRS stamped on it, either the guitar is not stock, or it's not an RG7620.

Re: Lo-Trs7

Were there any other 7 strings made in '99 in Vampire Kiss or was the 7620 the only one. Because if no other '99 7 strings came in Vampire Kiss then it's a 7620.

And the guitar is stock, it even has a full manufacturers warranty. It has been hanging in a guitar shop and hasn't been sold since '99.

Re: Lo-Trs7

My guess is that it's a 2000 RG7421 in Magenta Crush. Sometimes there's a bit of overlap with model years and serial numbers, so it's possible that a 2000 model will have a '99 neck (or vice-versa).

In '99, there was only the 7620 and 7621:

In 2000, Vampire Kiss was replaced by Gray Nickel, and the 742X series was introduced.

Re: Lo-Trs7

You're probably right about it being a 7421 in Magenta Crush. But nonetheless is the Lo-Trs trem useable or is it a POS?

Re: Lo-Trs7

It's usable but you have to work with it, perhaps wrap some fine tape around the bar or coat it in nail polish or something to get it to stay firmly in its socket in the bridge. Unfortnuately the bar sits about a centimeter higher out of the body than it would on an Edge or 6-string TRS trem, so if you don't take one of the above measures to ensure it's held firmly in the bridge, it will travel quite a bit of distance before it reaches a suitable angle to move the bridge. If it's any consolation, I have four RGs and the 7420 is the nicest-playing of all of them.

Re: Lo-Trs7

I noticed another 7620VK and it too has a Lo-Trs. I guess the VK's have Lo-Trs's.

And the first one in question has had it's serial # verified by Ibanez and they say that it is a 7620.

Re: Lo-Trs7

There are no 7620's with anything TRS. And Ibanez cannot verify ANYthing by serial number besides the year built and at what factory.

Re: Lo-Trs7

I suppose you're right about the serial# but how do you explain a bunchof people saying they have 7620VK's with Lo-Trs's

Re: Lo-Trs7

They only think they do or they're lying, they do not, they're 7420's.

Re: Lo-Trs7

Maybe I should ask him to pop off the neck and find out for sure. But then they will tell me that it is a 7620 neck...

The body stamp is all that matters.
