looking for 7 string tremolo equiped Ibanez

Right now I'm looking for 7 string tremolo equiped Ibanez, but in the store I was told to think a lot about buying such a guitar. Old man is saying I should think a lot before going from 6 string guitar to 7string guitar, becouse if 7 string guitar won't stick to me, it would be very hard to sell. Realy, what can you advise me about this decision? Is a 7 seven string guitar worth it?

i went from 6 to 7 after playing a friends 7 and finding out that the wide neck wouldnt be such a problem as i thought.
the only way to find out if u would like a 7 or not is to try one at the end of the day!

Stupid salesmen. If it's a 7 you want, that's what they should sell to you, not supply you with "advise". Seems to me such behaviour is what keeps the 7-string market stagnant. Second-hand value of guitars is, at least in the States, pretty shoddy for 6-strings as well.

I buy pretty much everything online these days so I don't have to deal with idiotic salesmen with their "professional* opinions".

If you buy a used 7 string for market value, you should be able to sell it for market value (as long as you don't ding it up, etc.). It's as simple as that, as long as the market value doesn't change significantly while you own it. Since the 7-string market is low right now, I don't see how it can get much lower.

Of course, you'll have to do the research to determine what the market value of the 7-string you want is. I recommend checking e-bay regularly, and looking at the price that that model sold for ("completed auctions").

If the guitar salesman was talking about buying a new guitar, then I'd probably agree with him. As soon as you buy a new guitar (6- or 7-string), it's instantly devalued by at least 20% or so.
