Looking for 7strings

so yes, i've decided that as my new band will be 7string based that it's time to go off in search of possibilities for a new 7. Any good suggestions? I will probably be looking second hand and am thinking of another old UV, as i love the playability on them!

I currently have a UV7BK and a 2027

suggestions?

Re: Looking for 7strings

now dont shoot me when i say this but.... the K7.... yeah i know it has the most heniously ugly inlay... but it is the best seven string for metal type situations is sounds and plays fantastic, ive used one for recording before and it just pissed over everything else we recorded with....

as for the inlay... uh beg ibanez to make you one with a good/normal inlay or get a new one made (though this one may cost you)

id highly recomend getting one, try one out before you go "gah, that inlay!! it burns my eyes!!!"... if i wasnt a student and had money id have one now

hope this helps dude

You could always get a 1527 and replace the pups. I agree, the K7 is a fantastic guitar. The tone, playability, simply awesome. Great for metal. The inlay, well, is another story...

Re: Looking for 7strings

How about the new Hellraiser Schecter 7 string? Jeff Loomis from nevermore plays one and it sounds awesome. The new Schecters play pretty nice too

I was going to suggest a Leviiathan, depending on what your budget is like.

Re: Looking for 7strings

You could always go custom and have a Universe made to your specs by one of the builders above.

Re: Looking for 7strings

I'm loving Schecters nowadays. If you have a pair of Ibanez, I'd mix it up for the third if I were in your shoes.

Re: Looking for 7strings

I ditto the Schecter comments. I went from a RG550 to a Schecter C-7 Blackjack, and honestly, the Schecter makes the RG550 feel cheap by comparison (and before you flame me, realize this is just my personal opinion). The solid build, neck thru body, included pickups, and overall quality is quite amazing for the price.

Sadly though, because my needs have changed, I just don't need a 7-string right now. So as much as I love the Schecter, I'm gonna trade it for a 6-string. I'll post it to the for-sale forum shortly, but wanted to mention here that Schecter is definitely a solid choice for 7-strings (and I'm NOT just saying that because I'm selling/trading one).

EDIT: Not sure if cross-posts are acceptable on this site, but here's the for-trade post if anyone's interested: http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showth...993#post398993
