Munky´s new custom

Munky plays this custom in thoughtless video.

Nice painting and large coloured inlay, bubinga stripe, white headstock, UV style jack, just one knob (volume).

Does anyone have better pictures or info about this guitar?

That's probably the best picture of it I've seen so far. There was a thread (or 2) about this guitar a few months ago. Very sweet axe I say. Wish these kind of guitars were available to the masses, but then again that would kill his guitar's individuality

Kinda begs the question... Why do they have a signature production model if they're still playing one-off custom models?

my exact sentiments. everytime i see them in a magazine, at least one of their guitars is not the K7. guess their signature model is not good enough, thus the need for one-of custom guitars.

Yeah...seems only Head uses the K7. He played it all the way through the new live thing. Munky I have rarely seen with one.

Yeah, Head uses the K-7, so apparently it's perfect for him, but Munky seems to have guitar A.D.D.

In the grand scheme of Ibanez they may be dropping customs to the guys pretty free and easy simply to keep relations good for discontinuing the K-7. It's kind of like being nice to someone that you know is going to get fired or demoted later that afternoon.

Is that a speculation or do you know something I don't?

I had no idea that the K7 is going to be discontinued.

If I was Ibanez, the only thing I would change is the inlay and still keep the guitar in production.

And lowering the price at least a tad, what they're asking for is ridiculous.

head said in an interview, that the deal with Ibanez was that they got free guitars.

Just checkout their film clips from their first, to their latest. They're constantly playing different guitars.....

...so they must be happy, and the Ibanez custom shop must be having a lot of fun coming up with different designs as well.

It is pure speculation. However it is based on the fact that the K-7 isn't selling terribly well, Korn, while still big, isn't doing nearly as well as they used to and Ibanez needing and apparently willing to restructure their high-end 7 string line.

I gave a long rundown on what I think what Ibanez would benifit from. In short they need to offer as many 7 string models total as I'd have fingers on one hand after a lousy day with a rotary saw. The K-7 seems prime to get the boot.

Who know....maybe Korn getting so many custom models is actually signaling that they'll be opening a US Custom Shop in the near future. Fender's making a killing on it....why not Ibanez?

Given that most of Korn's audience is alienated 16 year olds, it's a bit mean to maket a guitar that's alienatingly expensive and really doesn't look like anything they'd use. They should have just made a plywood Universe clone and made it in Korea or something, y'know, not neccessarily a crap guitar, but something that's affordable for the majority of the band's fans, instead of just those who make their pocket money selling stolen stereos.

You never know, it might sound good. I don't think I've ever played a plywood guitar before....
