My 8-string...Part I (Pics inside!)

As most of you know, Eddie at EKG Guitars is building the body & then, assembling what will soon be my custom 8-string! Here is the first update he sent me. I can't wait to get this in my hands!!!!

Enjoy the pics!

Wow, this is really nice...basically reminescent of an 8-string RG...what does the headstock look like?

And also, what are those pickups? They look really wide...

I like it a lot....

The headstock will also be Ibanez RG based, but with a few tweaks. Yes, EIGHT IN-LINE tuners!

Those are EMG45DCs. Basically, it's 6-string BASS housing with the guts of an EMG85.

Nice. Thanks for posting the pictures. I've been wondering what it would look like. That should give you plenty of range.

For now, we're going with a natural satin finish. I believe that's what Eddie called it.

Eddie, where you at?

Should have gone for 5 string bass EMG pickups as these will stick out to much when you string it up.
Otherwise it looks amazing.
Congrats

You would think so but the actual useable length (maximum string spread) of those EMG "bar" type pickups is deceptivly small compared to the overall size of the pickup. Look at a guitar with 707's in, for example.

How much roughly does a guitar like that set you back?

Looks good. I love the way Eddie put the neck pocket together. I've been watching this with real interest since the beginning and I'd love to hear the final results.

This is still a ways from being completed....I have a very strict deadline on this one, so more updates coming soon......

The finish has not been decided yet, but I think tung oil is out for a future finsh....

....back to work
