My BAW Universe project
Hiya,
Thought you might be interested in this. I know I've lifted the idea off another chap on the site, but his guitar was so beautiful I pulled Ernie off my PAW replica and onto this, the PAW will be next, so this is the BAW - black and white - Universe replica.
Body is Australian Mountain Ash - I own a 77BRMR, an EJ Strat, 2 Eggles - Maple/Maple and Mahog/Maple, and after long discussion we thought the ash would be a nice complement to my range of tones. According to Ernie its "snappy like alder (not quite as agressive) but has more lower mids". I'm expecting a nice mid scooped tone and plenty of bottom end.
So without further ado, here's some pictures of the blanks, CNC and swirls.

Re: My BAW Universe project
So the next step is to get the body clear-coated, and get a set of locking studs and fit to the body.
Ernie will start on the neck for me soon, UV neck dimensions, 3-piece laminate, wenge skunk stripe, and
ebony fretboard
.
Black headstock
and clearcoat, white (2 types) MOP front & sides pyramids, and disappearing to black MOP.
Hoping to receive the parts in about a month, perhaps 2, and have her built in 3.

Wow....I love that black and white swirl! Very nice indeed! You did the swirl? Or did someone else?

Re: My BAW Universe project
Ernie at ET guitars. The pictures are quite low-res but you can make out a kind of marbling sectioning of the swirl which I love, its very unique.

Re: My BAW Universe project
Yeah, After I posted, I saw Ernies thread. So what type of shipping costs are you looking at? His rates seem very reasonable.

Looks awesome. I love the black and white swirl. Oh and ash is a great choice for a 7. What pickups will you use?

Re: My BAW Universe project
I'm not sure on the shipping costs, about 60-70 USD we think. Hardly a strain.
Pickups, I'm planning on the Blaze IIs I think they are, original Universe stock, in black. Or Blaze 7s from Rich. I don't know what the difference is.
For the single-coil, I'm not 100% sure yet. I'd be happy to take some advice on pickups.

Re: My BAW Universe project
That looks awesome. Can't wait to see it when it's finished. Would look very cool with black and white pickups, zebra style.
