Thanks for all the positive comments. I will try to get some
audio posted soon. I'll try to borrow my sisters camcorder
and get some vid going too, I'm fairly certain it will export to
MPEG. It does look very bad-ass while playing it too `cause
it's a huge monster.
Here's more details on it:
I hand selected all the wood from a woodworkers shop about
50 miles away from home because I wanted to see with my
own eyes what woods I was getting rather than putting any
trust in online shopping. I wanted this guitar to be a very
grainy looking beast from the start.
The body top has 9 laminates in it...each one was glued together
and I let each sit for 24 hours before adding another...just to get
the top pieces all glued took about 10-ish days. The back is a two
piece alder bookmatch. Glueing that and attaching to the top was
another two days. I took that to an ancient old guy with a thickness
sander to get it all rough sanded flat. I bandsawed out the body
shape and used a spindal sander to get the sides all buttery smooth.
I routed the edges with a 1/4" roundover bit to give it a stratish feel.
Got the Lundgrens through Conklin (only place I know of in the US).
The volume pot is a 1Meg with a 0.001 microferad capacitor for
wide open attenuation, the tone is a 500k with a 0.022 microferad
cap so the tone bleedoff is pretty mellow...not overly bassy rolled
all the way back but just right and warm. By the way, just my
opinion but - believe all the hype about Lundgren pickups...they are
truely baaaadaaaaass...really beautiful, crisp cleans and unholy
powerful when distorted without getting muddy...worth all 40,000
pennies!
When making the body I didn't want an exact RG/UV clone so what I
did was took a big pic of one of my Universes, scewed it several
degrees forward in Photoshop then I took some more liberties and
'carved' the top and bottom curves in more than normal...to give it
some sexy woman-like hips

The fretboard is radiused to 16" and I used Dunlop
fret wire, forget what
kind exactly...as close to my UVs fretwire as I could find.
String gauges are: .09 / .11 / .16 / .24 / .32 / .42 / .52 / .59
the .59 on the 8th string is mildly floppier than I'de like but that's the
best I could get out of the local guitar shops -- and I seached `em all!
I've got some .62's on order from juststrings.com so hopefully that'll be
tight enough.
This took forever to type....I need more coffee now!
