My first seven - My new Jackson is here

Hello guys i am the new owner of a seven string jackson DR-7 and it is a beauty. I really thought long and hard before i bought this but i am happy i did. Now i need some help the pickups on this guitar suck and i need some good advice on replacement pickups pros and cons on EMGs-Dimarzio-Duncan which really is the key to great tone from each of these.

Try out a universe and see if you like the sound of the blaze pickups. Also what is the body made of?

Hey
I put blaze's in my basswood rg7. The thing sounds as heavy and clear as possible. The weird thing is if you split the coil it also has the coolest strat sound.
Now i also put it in my 2027 which is mohagony and it sounds totally smooth. Dont get me wront it is still heavy as crap but with a nice smoth solo sound. Unlike the bass wood body this one does not sound like a good straty (is that a word) sound when split. In fact the sound change in the basswood body is totally more drastic on all selections.
I have alos heard what i think the best selection is. A PAF with a ToneZone. It has the best of all worlds.
ok hope i helped you with the dimarzio part of your question

The jackson is solid alder guys. I have heard great things as of today on the EMG 707s and the blaze pickups. I know that dimarzio has the tone 7 and paf 7 and that sounds like a good combo too.

Thanks
Mando

Ok guys i made my decision and i have just purchased the tone zone 7 and the paf 7 that seems to me to be a good choice. i already love the sound of both in 6 string versions so now i will own them at 7 string versions.
