My JP7 is finally on the way!! :D - I can't friggen wait!

After waiting (in)patiently for about half a year it's finally en route.

I doubt anyone will see much of me for at least a week after that.

Thanks Rich!

I just realized I mis-spelled impatient. What a prat I am.

Essentially it's a Pearl Redburst JP7 with all the options (piezo, inlays, matching headstock).

I'll be happy to shoot some pics when she gets here.

Good on ya.

I had the pleasure of playing the cr*p out of one over the weekend at a store. I was comparing it to a UV777P and within 5 minutes of playing both I knew the JP7 was the winner. The JP's body is so darn light and that neck literally plays like butter - it's no doubt one of the best necks I've ever played. Now I must say I've got very little experience with EBMM guitars, but the JP7 is definitely on top of my list now for a 7-string. What sort of pups are those? I think they sound really really cool! Great sustain. How well is its trem supposed to work? It seems to be a pretty good design.

My JPM 7 is my favorite guitar now... *Sustain is awesome, feel is awesome, etc... *Pickups are Dimarzio's, probably variations on the Steve's Special and Air Norton that the Ibanez JPM had.

You gotta post pics and an in-depth review once you've had a few days with it. *I'm also curious to know what you paid for it...

Thanks in advance!

Well.. *sigh*

I got my JP7 today. It plays great, the body is beautifully finished, the neck feels superb.

The only problem is there's a big ugly chip in the headstock. :angryfire:

Apparently somehow it was put in the box upside down (neck facing down) and the top of the case above the headstock isn't padded very thick, so if it bounces a lot and smacks on the case there, it hit the headstock. It must've hit pretty hard though, it's a sturdy case. It hit the top of the case hard enough to embed some of the black fuzz inside the case between the paint on the headstock and the wood.

Rich is taking care of things and they will get me a new neck, I just have to ship it back to them (which really sucks). It's not like I can't put a neck on. Hrmph.

I'm not worried about the frieght cost so much, I just don't want it to get smacked again.

Oh well... I have the worst luck, I tell ya...

I get to eat your return freight, no worries. EB is strick about installing the neck themselves, then the guitar has to pass through tech which is where the neck is actually checked, when it passes tech it then gets shipped back to you. At least you can play it till your neck is ready, I know that doesn't help opening up the case on a new babe to find a shipping whack

Considering the way Rich packs his guitars, UPS must have really wacked it for that to happen. *From the sound of things round here and in other threads, I must be one of the lucky few to have never had a problem with them. *Did I just jinx myself?? *

Sorry about the chip, Jeffrey. *

Not my packing. Typically new guitars stay in the shipping boxes that come from the factory. "Special" guitars I pack, sure, drive over them with a tank and they'll be sawdust, but most everything else wouldn't hurt them one bit
