Re: My Ran Invader

I got it when I was in the army. Half bonus money and what not....it broke me off for a while (that and the ****ing recto!!!)

Dariusz is great to deal with though...I probably sent him about 100 emails ironing out all the details of the guitar.

If anyone wants to see the specs I'll post em.

hey philla, hows it going, btw, rivers of gore is awesome
neways, how comes you want a lundgren? is the emg 81-7 rubbish, or is it just not what your looking for?

btw, i think you should try it out in another 7 string before you start routing your ran, just in case you dont like it.

Mainly from reviews and soundclips I have heard over the web. Don't get me wrong, the EMG 81-7 does sound pretty ****in great, but I get discouraged when every band I hear pretty much uses em...

ALSO, I want to hear the sound of the woods more in the guitar.

That was actually my original intention...its still up in the air right now for me though.

Re: My Ran Invader

That looks very cool indeed

I bet it sounds like Satan coughing his gut up ,so I think you'll struggle to show the softer side of Coldplay in your tribute band.

Re: My Ran Invader

That Ran is a pretty darn sweet seven I must say. Looks like a monster from the pics, but it feels and plays great.

I haven't gotten it yet man...now the routing fear is holding me back (along with being a broke ass cracker)

I'm still debating on getting an EQ or the lundgren as of now.

Re: My Ran Invader

I think it sounds pretty good right now. We could always throw an 18 V mod on it

I don't think the routing will be an issue. The EMG 81-7 is larger than normal 7 pickups, but not by much. Most some actually just trim the 81-7's to fit a 7, so if you did decide to throw a lundgren in there, you're not looking at much of a gap at all. I was thinking of some EMGs for the 7, and if I got them, I definitely wouldn't take any wood out of it, I would just trim the pickup casing. If I were to get a 1527 (thinking about it), that's exactly what I'm going to do to drop some EMGs in there.

Re: My Ran Invader

you wont have to do much routing, just a tiny little bit for the screw mount section of the pickups.

look at this ibanez jcustom which was converted for emgs, as you can see, pretty much all of the original 7 string pickup would fit inside the emg route. you just need to make little semi circles to take the screw mounts.
