My rg 7420 has a serial year of 99?

Production was supposedly from 2000 - 2002 (courtesy of jemsite.) I imagine this is normal, as the need to produce guitars before their actual selling year in order to have them available. Can someone please confirm this?
Thanks!

Mine is a 2000 with an F99 neck. I'm pretty sure the RG7620 and RG7420 used exactly the same production of necks, so I'd guess in 2000 they just used leftover necks.

Interesting, I thought that the 420 used a single piece neck, while the 620 had a 3 piece. Is this correct?

Re: My rg 7420 has a serial year of 99?

The old 7620 I used to have (a '99) had a one-piece neck. They switched later on to a three-piece/skunk stripe neck, but I'm not sure when exactly.

As both are Japanese-made guitars, and I've heard of several 7420's with neck jointest stamped 7-620, this wouldn't surprise me in the least that the initia run of 7420's just used existing spare 7620 necks.

It seems very common for the necks to be the same on different models - my 7421 has a 7621 neck.

Same deal, I'd imagine - they're both japanese in origin.

My first 7-string, a 7620 which I still have, has a 1997 serial # (F9756042) and it is a '98, the year they came out.
