needing help: rg7620 '98 used or '02 new?

a lot of people say that pre '99 models are better than the new ones. i looked in the old pages of this forum but couldnt find anything that could help. is it a difference of pickups or a difference of neck? if its a p-u difference i dont care much because i'm going to change them whatever happens, but if the neck is thicker or anything that would annoy me... please help!!

Well....I don't know how to tell you this but if you're finding a 2002 RG7620 then you must have gotten ahold of some very late models. As far as I'm aware the RG7620's haven't been in production for quite awhile. I could be wrong and probably am (as I don't distinctly remember when they ceased production).

They're still in production. Just not for sale in the US.

go to Ishibashi-music.com.

They've got new 7621's, 7620's, 2127's. You name it, they have it.

EDIT Added link.

i'm in france, thats the reason why...
so guys, should i take the '98 or the '02 with the neck's bubinga stripe?
i've played the '98, feels great, but i wonder about the '02, and would prefer to have a new axe, even though the '98 is mint.

Ooooh! Ooooh! There's been a LOT of speculation as to whether or not Ibanez changed the neck profile when they added the stripe- do you notice anything different between the two in terms of feel?

erm... not really you know. maybe theone with the stripe is flatter, thats what i felt on a new 7420. but the '98 7620 was what i prefered. dang why is it always the junk with necks and ibanez?

I think the newer 7620's have different pups as well. The 98 prolly has blazes...the new ones don't. Don't quote me on that though.

If you like the neck on the 98, nab it. Should be cheaper too, which is always nice.

i played a 7620 with the stripe today. the neck is definitely flatter and strangely a LITTLE thinner on that one... really weird!

i start to think like toshiro about the pickups... they will be replaced whatever happens though!

I'm in Australia at the moment and the local guitar shop has an 7620 with the Blaze pups in it, at least that's what my friend who works there said...I donno what year it's from but it's been there for at least 2 years.
