New Alder/Purpleheart/Walnut 7620 body

I'm having a new body made for my 7620 by Christopher Woods. It's going to be alder and purpleheart, with a crotch walnet veneer top. (Crotch walnut is regular walnut, but it's cut crosswise through the tree at a branch point). The guitar will get the Bartolini pickups and preamp that the old body had. Rich provided locking studs for the trem. The neck is going to have the little grey dots pulled, and replaced by little dots of purpleheart, and the headstock will have a matching walnut face with a purpleheart pinstripe beneath it.
So, since I've gotten some preliminary pics of the beginnings of the body taking shape, I thought I'd pass them on. The face of the body will have a bevel, so that the purpleheart will show around the side from face-on. Also, the guitar will be beveled for the right arm rest, so that it will also show the 3 layers in the wood. Anyway, here's the first shots of the body, enjoy! :

Thanks, I'm very happy with it myself. I wanted the RG feel, because I loved the shape, but I wanted it to look a little more like an old Alembic

Re: New Alder/Purpleheart/Walnut 7620 body

Yeah, it's not really a 7620 anymore once its got an alder and purpleheart body ;-) It's a 7620 based project, an RG7 something or other maybe. It's going to have a 2 layer veneer on the face of the headstock, so it won't say Ibanez anymore, either. Not to forget the pair of Bartolini 493 pickups and Frank Falbo preamp rounding out the electronics.

The whole thing started because the neck is one of those 1 in 1000 necks, so it will rule no matter. I'm hoping to have it all done, assembled, and in my house by June 1st, so when I get updates I'll post them up here.
