Re: New Carvin 727C

Very nice. Dare I ask what you paid for it? Carvin seems to have the best 7-string market strategy with all those options.

I honestly don't remember! lol Somewhere around 1250 I think though. I wanted one that they had hanging in store in California, but they wouldn't sell it to me, so they made me one like it for the same price. Then, I changed the color and got the stainless frets. The neck on her is just fantastic, it's tung oiled mahogany and feels great!

Re: New Carvin 727C

I love my carvin to death...and lately i realized if i ever get another 7 it will be another carvin...different body woods, though. Mine is mahogany, and i too don't mind the pickups. a tad noisy, but they cut through the mix well!

Enjoy!

Haha, I hate that. Mine's worse, though; our hub is about 15 minutes away from the house. Same with Fedex, except they're 15 minutes north instead of south.

I CANNOT wait to order my 727! I have to sell some of my gear, first, as well as some gear I'm still waiting to be sent to me before I can order it.

Re: New Carvin 727C

Hi Jim,

I wonder one thing about Carvin 7 strings...

Necks...

I played many ibanez 7ths and ESPs but never had a chance to paly a carvin 7th.

I really think about carvin 7ths, so can you desribe it a little? Can you compare with RG7 and UVs?

Re: New Carvin 727C

i know this is a pretty old thread, but i wanted to see what you thought of the carvin 7 string neck compared to an ibanez 7 string neck. advantages, disadvantages, differences, etc. since you've had it now for a while, i'd assume you have decided on one you like better

Re: New Carvin 727C

I like the Carvin better, by quite a bit. It's got the sound, and the tung oiled mahogany neck is superb. I've got a 2027, and 1 (maybe 2... ) 7620's, so I have some comparision material handy. The neck is a little thicker than an Ibanez neck, but everything is thicker than an Ibanez neck. It's comfortable, come in so many options it's silly. I love Ibanez 7's, but the Carvin is always the one I go for first unless I need the piezo. The carvin stock pickups don't sound so bad in mahogany, either. I never liked them in Alder/maple 7's, but in mahogany/mahogany they're great.

Re: New Carvin 727C

i have contemplated selling my 3120 and 8527 and getting a carvin 7 string. I also have that abyss custom i had made, but i'd like another 7 for alternate tunings. i don't use the edge bridges whatsoever, so the ibanezes are pretty much going to waste, plus the abyss neck is similar to the ibanez, but is also somewhat thicker, but i love it 10 times more than the wizard, so thicker neck wouldn't really be a problem, just as long as the carvin is super bulky.. I was thinking maybe do another dual output 7 from carvin with a hardtail and piezo saddles, but i wanted some first hand opinion on the quality.

EDIT: oops.. i meant ISN'T super bulky above
