New pups for my RG 2027?

Just got me an RG 2027,
and I'm concidering changing the pup's.
I have a JPM, and love the sound of it.
is it possible to get these pups only in 7 string
versions? ....No one in Norway imports
Dimarzio anymore , so i have to order
it from somewhere.

got any hints on reliable sellers of dimarzio?

The steves special is not available in 7 string model and Dimarzio will not custom make it. You are talking about different body woods so I think you wouldnt be able to nail the tone of your jpm. My suggestion is an evolution in the bridge. Its articulate and bright, 2 characteristics of the steves special but its a bit more powerful. Keep the mids down on your amp and you should be able to get fairly close.

The Blaze is actually supposed to be quite close tonally to the steve's special, according to the guys at dimarzio. Never played one, and of course the wood will make a difference, though...

Evos do rock in mahogany, however.

Wise decision you took by buying that nice axe

I have a 2027 and a JPM too and Iīm suffering the same dilemma over here. I love the sound of the JPM and Iīm already looking for the Air Norton 7 to replace the ibz neck pickup. But I still canīt decide on whatīs the "second best" to get something similar to Steveīs Special in 7 string format. Dimarzio choices are Tone Zone, Blaze and Evolution I guess. It would be great to try them and to decide but (just like you) I canīt get those over here!

Somebody tried them all and wants to share impressions?
