Now why dont the online stores in the US ship internationally? They can easily boost their sales if they do so......thats very strange.

Re: Online stores in the us

This is where commerce interferes with art. Unfortunately most manufacturers, be it guitars or whatever, strategically market their products to benefit their distributors in their respective territory. So in order to be able to sell a product in a particular market a manufacturer may put restrictions on whom the distributor can sell their products to. As the market in the states is so large, companies often offer suppliers great cost prices. However with this great cost price - a restirction to only sell in the states is usually put in place. This is also as a relationship the manufacturer may have, with say an australian distributer could be affected if the states where to supplier it here.

its an i'll scratch your back if you scratch mine kind of thing

it's not just ibanez - recently i found out EMG and Dimarzio strictly forbid their items being sold from the states to international markets.

Yes, this sucks.
It's incredibly hard to find good equipment here in Brazil.
And when you buy something from outside, you must pay a tax of 60%.
Damn thief government !!!

If you have a buddy in the US, that you trust, you could give him your money via paypal, have them pay for it, and then give them money for shipping. Just an idea

You know what! I might just do that. That Michael Kelly's Patriot Custom is giving me massive gas. Feels like exploding anytime soon

Re: Online stores in the us

I know in Japan there are a couple of companies now that will purchase guitars for you from sellers that won't ship internationally, and then ship it over to you for a small additional fee (rinkya.com is one, you can google for others.)

I believe there is a company/guy in the US who does it too, can't remeber the name though.

Have never heard of such arrangement before. Wonder if anyone here have tried that before?

Re: Online stores in the us

I'd never use that from Japan, unless it's cased. And most stuff sold used in Japan, isn't. The japanese pack for crap, because the have the best postal service in the world. Everything is handled with great care. It will not be once it leaves the country and gets to your country, where a flimsy gig bag thrown in a box is much finish damage and a broken neck before you get it.

mus**iansfriend.com and music*23.com are out of the question as they dont shipout the products out of USA. I am hoping if someone can shed a light as to who shipped out guitar products internationally?
