Please Help!!!!!

Ok a friend of mine is looking at an Ibanez rg 7 string XL hardtail (27 inch scale) and wants to know if its gonna be alot harder to play on than say a 7621 (thats what I have and I love it!). Hes into Dream Theater Symphony x type stuff so thats what he hopes its capable of.

So playability/feel wise is it gonna make a diffrence? Is this guitar more suited for rythym that lead playing?

I'd say it's definitely more suited to rhythm playing. But if he finds it comfortable, then go for it, there's no right or wrong really. The stretches on the lower frets will be a little nastier and his hands will feel kinda small, but from what I hear the extra room is really really nice feeling in the higher frets.

I have the same guitar, and it does take some getting use to, and it is more suited for rhythm than lead playing, although you can still play leads on it. The extra scale length is worth it, trust me.
