question about tremolos

Hi. I was wondering if it's possible to replace the Lo-TRS 7 piece o'**** in my RG7420 with a Lo-Pro Edge 7.
(I already have a better guitar, I just want to use this one as a backup, but the trem sucks). Thanks!

Anyone?
If you don't know the answer, do you know someplace I can find out? The Dutch Ibanez distributor won't answer.

you can find a lo-pro with everything else on etray.
then see a luthier to route out the body

Normally it's possible to order a Lo-pro edge 7 through your local Ibanez Dealer.
I did it that way. Prepare for long waiting times, mine took me almost 7 months to arrive !

Cheers,

Or you could always order from somebody that has them in stock but IMO a 7420 isn't worth the expense.

since you want it as a backup, just block the trem!

You need to route out the existing TRS cavity to accomodate the LoPro. LoPro Trems and other Ibanez trems can be found at IBANEZ RULES (top banner). Is it worth it? Entirely up to the individual. For me? No.

I gotta agree with Rich, 213. Unless you absolutely cannot perform your music without a floyd trem, just do what Caprile suggested. If you can't perform without a floyd, I recommend you aim at buying a better guitar for backup, or get used to the one you have. The price to buy a Lo-pro Edge and get your guitar body routed doesn't sound like a great deal, just for a 7420. At least not to me. Now, if you're able to route the body and repair the finish yourself, go for it.

well if you don't mind a little routing
and an ugly spot on your guitar unless you refinish it
personally i think it could be well worth it if you want to try doing it yourself
it'll increase the resale value too

try a search on jemsite and projectguitar
i'm sure i've seen the measurements to do this somewhere before
good luck
