renaming the "other 7-string guitars" topic

concidering the popularity of the 8-string and more increasing,
how about naming it "7 strings and beyond" or something?

I've thought that too, now with the popularity of 8 strings. Maybe "Extended Range Guitars" or something.

www.extendedrangeguitar.com

I think, as this is an Ibanez player and collector forum, until either a production 8 is released or one of the Ibanez Meshuggah customs hits the used market, we don't really need a change. At that point, i'd say probably leave it 7-string, but in the description underneith ammend it to include anything with more than 6.

I don't think there's really much point. It's not like Glen or anyone would ever object to anyone talking about 8's or 9's or 27's or anything. I think there's far more of a musical/playing/technique leap between 6 and 7 then there is between 7 and 8, anyway. Once you've gone 7, you've pretty much proven you're perverted enough to try anything, so an 8 or 9 is just dinero away Folks dedicated to their 6's rarely even see the 7's on the periphery.
It's all good here.
