rg 1527 locking nut problem

hi everyone. while tuning my guitar i found that i could not lock my low B, and E string. i think its because the screw will not connect to the nut due to the thickness of the B string .. im only using a 53 for the low B, any suggestions on how to solve this? maybe i should flatten the B string with a pair of plyers or something... thanks anyhelp would be appreciated

The pressure pad may be getting caught on top of the nut. Use to happen to me. Look carefully.

And if that isn't the problem, get a longer screw...

oh thanks. i thought of getting a longer screw too. do they sell em at just any music store, or would i have to goto a hardware store or something
