RG 7620

Hi everyone. I recently saw an ad for a used RG 7620 for sale, for $550 (canadian). I talked to the owner, and he says the serial code is F9932674. Could you guys give me some information/advice on the guitar please? Thanks.

I guess it would be a really nice price here in Europe, and it's really worth the price.

But I can't tell you if you can find cheaper in North america or not...

I think it may be difficult to find something significantly less expensive

Hey!

$550 (canadian) is just below 3000 NorwegianKR, and new price for this guitar in Norway was 12500, so you won't do a bad deal, unless the guitar is beaten to death

and the 7620 is great, I had mine for about 6 years, until I got the 2027, I had to sell the 7620 to afford the 2027, (when a 2027 is available, you buy it, that's the rule......)
The stock pickups is a lot better on the 7620 than the 2027.

Dan, have you gotten any pictures of the instrument? What colour is it?
It's a Made-In-Japan model, has the LoPro7 bridge on it, etc.
What questions do you have about it? Ask away. I own one of these...

Depending on condition, that's probably a decent price...

I don't have any pictures of it, as I'm going to see it in person this week. The owner says the condition is decent, with a few scratches and a dent in the side. The guitar is Japanese made, has dimarzio pickups, black and I'm not sure of the bridge. I was under the assumption that all RG7620's had the LoPro7?

About the guitar Steve, how do the pickups sound, and is the return to pitch on the bridge good? Also, what type of neck does it have? Thanks for all your help.

The RG 7420 is also made in japan, but has the LoTrsII trem, which sucks.
The 7620, have Lo-pro 7 which has almost perfect return to pitch, when setup correctly. A way to find out which guitar is, is the trem.
At lopro (7620) you can push and pull the trem arm in/out, on the LotrsII (7420) you have to turn it in/out.

Good luck, and don't buy the 7420, (they don't have DiMarzio pickups, but that's not easy to see, but you will hear it)

The trem on the 7420 is not a TRS-II, but a regular TRS. There is no TRS-II 7 string bridge.

I currently have one (as well as a few 7620s and UVs), and the 7420 performs rather well.

Dan,
The pickups sound decent - I truly like the neck position one, and even went about acquiring one to put into my UV777BK.
The bridge one is pretty good - I like a little more midrange punch than the stock one has, so I replaced mine with a Blaze Custom (as my other 7s have).
The stock ones have quite a good bit of output, and depending on what type of music you're playing, may well suit you perfectly.
There's a certain 'diffusion' to the bridge pickup's sound that I wanted to tighten up, hence the change.

Return-to-pitch on the LoPro 7 should be great - of course, depending on excess wear on the knife edges, etc.
If all is in good condition, it should be working quite well.

Yeah actually I'm 30 minutes north of Toronto, I live in Bolton actually, if you've ever been there. I used to live in Toronto (North York, off of Weston Road). Anyways, thanks for the help.

550 CDN is a good price, if it's in good condition and is not a 7420.

Wow...that's so strange...why did they use the V7-7 and V8-7 in the 2027 instead of the DiMarzio "New 7"s?

Wow. A complete thread that's not only about a guitar that's NOT a J-Custom, USA Custom or Prestige but is a 7-string to boot. Too bad there's not a place in the Forum for such things. Reading sure is hard!

Nope. There's nothing delicate about my sensibilites. I simply find the lack of common sense that some people have to be amazing (and amusing).

Especially when somebody posts something like this in a topic with a VERY clear description that reads:
