Question

RG1077XL/2077XL What's the Diff ???

Hi.
Is there any difference between the RG1077XL and the RG2077XL except for the trems and the age?

Does anyone have either of these guitars and if so are they any good? Does the extra scale-length make them any harder or less comfortable to play? Does the scale-length make a lot of difference to the string tension when you tune them lower? Do they have to be played at a lower tuning or can you tune them to a regular tuning too (or would this make the strings too highly tensioned)?

I've seen a 1077XL for sale and it looks like a really nice guitar so I'm trying to find out a bit about them.
Thanks! JTM45.

Well , I thought i'd try to save the day and help you out , but after some research , I'm wondering the same thing ! The specs look identical , so maybe it's just a model number change ?

Correction . I just looked again , and the bridge is different . 1077XL has a LoPro Edge 7 while the 2077XL has the newer EdgePro 7 . Of the two , I think the LoPro Edge is favored by most .

Re: RG1077XL/2077XL What's the Diff ???

the 1077XL is just the earlier model of the 2077XL, they are techically the same just with different paintjobs and as stated different trems, I personally like my 2077xl's trem as it isn't a problem to me, they are ideal for tunings lower than B standard but they are do B standard just fine, the added length means you'll get more clarity out of what you're playing and getting used to the 27" scale doesn't take very long in my opinion.

both of the models are discontinued and as far as I know they are both rare to find so if you can get a hold of one you should jump at the chance if you intend on playing a 7 string guitar.

Agreed. Obviously my first choice is the guitars that we build, but of all the many commercially built 7-strings I've player, the Ibanez XL's were by far the best.

Re: RG1077XL/2077XL What's the Diff ???

Hmmm..... Sounds like they're good guitars. I'm very tempted to get the one I've seen for sale. It really is a gorgeous looking guitar and from what I can find on this site it seems that they probably play and sound as good as they look.

I shouldn't even be considering it as I've only just bought an RG2027, but I'm guessing the 1077's don't come up for sale too often so I'm tempted to grab this one while I've got the chance.
Has anyone bought one in the UK? What did you pay for it and what sort of price do they go for?

Thanks to everyone for the input. You may be responsible for convincing me that I HAVE to buy this one, lol.
