RG1077XL, eh - Where? How Much?

I really really wish I could get an RG1077XL. *Much better IMHO. *I just like them better. *I saw one for the first time a long time ago (on the net) and thought "That's my guitar." lol *I just really, really like them. *How much should I expect to pay to get one? *Keeping in mind I'm in Canada, and there aren't any in my city. *And I don't trust my local guitar shop to order one (unless I really have to, and can get a decent deal). *

Steve's in Toronto did have a 1077XL on the rack for a few weeks, and it's gone now. I seem to remember it was around C$1500 or so. You could almost get one in a case from Rich for about that amount, once you factor in exchange, shipping, GST and customs brokerage.

i'd recommend you play one first (i understand from your post you haven't, if i'm wrong, ignore me and my bad comprehension!) some people just don't like the longer scale. i'm one of those people.

No, I haven't played one, simple because I have no way to. *:angryfire: *

:shoot: Crappy London Guitar Stores

But I'm pretty sure I'd be fine with the extra length. *How much difference would it make?

The one at Steve's *was cool I played it a few times, but when I got to it, it was in used shape. Thats what I hate about Steve's.

I also played one at Lakeshore Music in Burlington, they had it on for a reduced price of $1399 no case, but It sold that week and it was a special they were having.

I liked the feel, but I didn't like the finish and that damn single coil.

I suggest trying one first, especially since it has the extended scale, not for everyone really.

I stopped in at my local guitar shop again. *The Ibanez sections thinned out a bit (eek), but they still have their usual low-end crap section with the RG-7620 hanging in the top corner. *Price still @ $1021. *I'll probably just go for that. *I also looked for heavy strings (for tuning down my 6-string if necessary), would Dean Markley 12-52 work?

I would seriously reccomend using 12-56 for tunig down a 6 string.
and then you should also replace the 4rth wound string with an unwound 20 or 22.
I've found thos to work the best on a 6 string. and it gives KILLER bite.

Why pay6 1021 plus tax man???

you can buy one off ebay and as long as your careful you can get one for like 300$ US in new shape thats roughly 600$ canadian. even with the shipping which should be no more than 35$ to 50$ your still laughing.

Or even if you buy one of the blowout 7620's from MF at 450 US thats only 790 roughly with shipping, thats WAYYYY better.

Try to talk them into lowering the price, tell them it's discontinued and the dealers are blowing them out.

Yeah, I'm basically just looking for ideas right now. *I don't have even close to the money yet. *If I can get a good deal on eBay (+shipping, +tax) I'll go for it. *And I'll try talking down the guys at the music shop too. *Musicians Friend, unfortunatly, does not ship to Canada :shoot: :bash:
