I'm not 100% sure, as I haven't seen official word. But I think it's just part of their clearance, and not Ibanez discontinuing them...I hope not.

I suspect that may be some stock they picked up from Mars, but I'm guessing that the demand for the XL models has been very poor. I bought a brand new 7421XL a few weeks ago for 399.

This axe is the pinnacle of the RG line- seven-stringed, long necked dimarzio wonderhorse! If they discontinue it, it will further dilute the Rg series (what with the loss of the 2027)

OR...

Do you suppose that Ibanez have something really good up thier sleeves for next year?

Eh...let's be reasonable here folks...the market is saturated with 7 strings right now, and alot of very good ones can be had for very cheap; UV777BKs for 8 bills, RG7620's for under 3, RG7420's for 2 bills....and that's just Ibanez. New 7 strings aren't putting food on anyones table these days. They're much more likely to try and preserve the signature lines before the regular offerings I tend to think. I wouldn't be surprised if the only 7 string offerings they'd make would be RG7's and K7/UV777BK. Four almost seems like too much for a new market so saturated anyway...

Can't be stock they picked up from mars. Mars doesn't sell Ibanez.

In that case I would think that the only answer is that sales of the XL series suck. I wouldn't really be surprised. It's an odd deviant of a now unpopular sub-genre. On top of that, the hard tail version is only available in the budget model. That doesn't exactly leave a huge market. Like I said earlier, I only paid $399 for my 7421XL and that was brand new from an authorized dealer.

stupid kids with their cheap 7s, they look at it as a neat way to tune down, not as versatility. there was just too many good 7s, and too many bad ones. K7? arg. ther 7620 was pretty much the first korn sig even though it didnt say it, plain jane universe with grungier pickups. but im gettin off topic. so theres a pretty strong chance of it beion around for at least little while longer?

Still on Ibanez.com and Ibanez.co.jp, and I really don't care what MF.com is doing. They probably just weren't selling many so they wanted to get rid of them. *shrug*

Guitars which are made in Japan and disconitnued here in the U.S are still made over in Japan. Not that they dont discontiue guitars either, but they still make 7620's, 7621's, and so forth. I wouldn't doubt they'll continue making the 1077 over there too.

As for Ibanez.com, trust me they would NEVER actually update the site unless doing a huge overhaul which they take 6 months to do. The guitar
will still be there untill the middle of next year probably.

So does anyone have official word? Is the RG-1077XL discontinued, or are we still speculating here?
