rg1527 trem question

Can I add a 4th spring to the back of my trem? There's a bar taking up 2 of the holes in there and those holes are threaded and kinda big. It doesn't look like they will hold a spring too well.

Re: rg1527 trem question

sure you can... but it'll re-adjust the bridge angle by doing so. Meaning you'll have to re tune and setup the guitar with that 4th spring.
The bar is there to avoid springs flying away while doing whammy tricks; Happened only once during a setup and it wasn't a pleasant sound. Otherwise, you'll be able to add a fourth spring by having the springs in a 2 + 2 formation while taking out the block-lock mechanism altogether.

Re: rg1527 trem question

Cool Cause it really needs it with the set of 10-56 I have on it now. The damn claw won't go in any further :P

Anyone know of a place to get short springs or 2 eyelet spings? I can see springs flying in my near future without that block on.

Rich should have both long and short springs (47mm and 52mm)... click on the ibanezrules swirly banner
... i think i've read somewhere that the newer Prestige guitars (like your 1527) have short springs, they look kinda "greenish-gold" with the light.

Re: rg1527 trem question

Yes, simply take the bar off, but another spring in the hole, and then put the bar back on with on screw, works well enough and stops springs popping out. I've done this with all of mine as I run 10-52+70's

Plus 4 springs seems to stabilise it a bit better, stops it feeling too flimsy

That sounds like a plan. THanks!
