RG2027 neck pup - I know, I know....

I have just spent 30 mins looking for a similar post but I cant find it

I would like your opinions on which pup to put in the neck position to match with the Tone Zone. ( Which I think is the best pick up around )

Paf7 or AirNorton7?

Thanks guys.

Kevs mod has been done as well
Thanks Kev!
Thanks Scott!

Air Norton7, IMHO. I love the AN, it's smooth and creamy like a good cappucino.

Thanks Scott!
no problem!

i have both the AN7 and PAF7 in the neck positions of different guitars. *they both work well, but i think the AN7 is better for more high gain stuff, like a neck pickup for a guitar [or player] doing more metal type stuff who needs a pickup that stays clear with tons of gain, and the PAF7 is better for medium gain stuff, like hard rock. *they are both cool, and they both sound great when coil cut for single coil soudns, that's just the subtle distinction in tone that i hear.

interesting....

I use to have an RG570 which i upgraded with a ToneZone and an Air Norton. I fell in love with the TZ, but I found the AN too bassy.
Now i have a JPM P3 with the AN *and I think it sounds great....mmmmm....
This input is very helpfull.

Thanks

I'm guessing that was a wood problem.

Whatever it came with stock knocks my shorts off. I am not going to change a thing on mine. I hope the tone isn’t partially due to the fact that I haven’t removed the little sticky plastic covers from the pickups yet. Whatever it is, I like it.

Unfortunately they'll probably fall off about the time you change the strings, sometime in 03' would be my guess

I gotta agree with Bob (my namesake) on this one. I did the swap, too, julio, and went with the TZ7 and the AN7. Thinking about trying a 7 in the future with 2 PAF 7's. Well, to get to the point, the stockers sound great in the 2027. I love the TZ and the AN, without a doubt, but I wouldn't say they sound "better" than the stocks. Different is a better description. With that being said, the AN matches up just about perfectly in output with the TZ. See my link for more details on this subject...

How about the Duncan '59 (7)? *I really love that killer Nuno neck sound, and wonder if it would pair well with the stock bridge in the 2027, or even sound close to the 6 version. *Anyone ever played one of those puppies for the 7?

Can't remember who, but someone out there has/had a '59 in the neck and JB in the bridge of their 7-string. *Sounded very cool (there were samples)
