Oh, this is pretty much similar to what i'm currently working on.. It's 28", 6-string and 24 frets superstrat..

Re: RG7 baritone (mockups inside!)
ET posted a few new pics on sevenstring.org, but I can't access the site just now. Sorry for being a tease. :L

Re: RG7 baritone (mockups inside!)
Here we go. Ernie actually told me a porkie when he said that I could only have 25 frets.
26 frets? I can has them.
Compared with a regular neck.
As you can see, there is still some work to be done - headstock painting, fretting and tung oiling - but for the most part, we're done. \m/
I can't wait to have her over here in Scotland.

Here are a few pics that illustrate the shade of purple that I'm going for.

My mouth literally went slack and my eyes teared up when I saw that beauty.
EDIT: Though I'm not sure the strap suits it well IMO

Re: RG7 baritone (mockups inside!)
I can has an update!
Ernie just sent me these pics, and informed me that she's ready to come home as soon as the final payment is... ummm, payed.
I think that she looks badass. The ebony is
black
, which I love, and that wenge stripe really appeals to me too. I was initially a little sad that I didn't opt for a purpleheart stripe (to go with the body), but I think that the wenge looks just as good, if not better. Ernie tells me that it's really straight, and that the frets are very level, which means less work when my tech works on her.

Re: RG7 baritone (mockups inside!)
Thanks for the interest, man!
She's here!
The build quality seems pretty incredible. I was initially worried that the wenge stripe would feel grainy and rough, but it's as smooth as the maple. The tung oil and wax finish kicks ass too; very fast feeling.
My fears over the fret size were unneccesary too. They appeared deceptively small in the pics that ET sent me, but in reality they are a nice medium between vintage strat and unwieldy modern Ibanez. The fretboard itself is simply gorgeous. I've never played an ebony boarded guitar before, and it's just beautiful.
The headstock painting is pretty good too. The only quibble I have about the whole neck is that there is a tiny tiny smidgen of primer visible beside where the nut will be slotted. This will be invisible when I fit a truss rod cover, so there's no harm there.
I've checked the fitting with my existing RG7321 body, and it's great. I plan to order an ET body in the near future, so it wouldn't have been a problem anyway. Overall, I'm extremely happy and cannot wait to have this whole project assembled.
Some headstock shots...
Excuse the fingerprints. Bloody black guitars...
Bask in the blackness...
Excuse that horrid body. It's only temporary...

It is
very
black. I think that it'll mesh beautifully with the purple quilted maple. Let's hope so!
Yeah, I'm going to stay hardtail. I contemplated a trem, but I'm going to keep things simple. \m/

Re: RG7 baritone (mockups inside!)
Thordendal and Hagstrom string their 30.5" 8-strings with regular D'Addarios, so I should be OK. \m/
