RG7 with LEDs finished!
Hi all,
More pics of my latest project. It was a real experiment for me, LEDs in the fingerboard (a la Sims) and more LEDs lighting up the body. It's an RG7420 body which I sprayed white and routed for a battery compartment. Then I built the neck and put blue LEDs in the fingerboard. The body LEDs I did by stripping the coils from one half of an Ibanez neck humbucker and hiding the LEDs in the pickup bobbin. So the other half of the humbucker still works as a single coil (ish). It has a three way
pickup selector switch
and a tonezone in the
bridge position
. There is one switch on the back of the guitar which turns all the LEDs on - they're really bright and run from a camcorder 3.6v re-chargable battery.
Any comments welcome, I realise it's really over the top, but I just fancied having a go at the LEDs,
cheers,
Rich

NICE. I really want a 7 string man... you just made me want one more!
Its a very neat idea to put lights on the neck pup! Good one there!

Ummm, I built it!!!! I'm not sure how much it cost me - the body wasn't too much off evilbay, then the rest I built from scratch.
And I forgot to say that the only problem so far is that no matter how much you dust the thing, the body LEDs still light up dust on the front!!!

That looks awesome, very nicely done! Are they always on, or do you have some way of turning them on or off while you're playing?

There's a slider switch on one of the backplates, so it's pretty easy to turn them on and off, although maybe a bit difficult while you're actually playing!

Re: RG7 with LEDs finished!
Would you do this on one of my necks?
For a price obviously...
It's the neck off an RGA121. It's my workhorse guitar and would be quite cool to have some fret-leds like those when I start using it for gigging..
/general wonder.

Re: RG7 with LEDs finished!
Nice!
The body's color goes great with the blue LED's.
One question:
Why'd you go with a Floyd 7 style knockoff instead of an Edge (Which is a knockoff, technically)?
