rg7321
hi, i was just wondering if one were to get a standard rg7321 remove the pups and replace with either emg 707 or dimarzio of somesort and maybe even change the
volume knobs
....would it be on par with say a rg7421 or 7621? i mean i know its not made in japan but does that really make that much of a difference? they must be made to a certain standard...
thanks
J

i don't believe pickups to be any sort of quality measurement, maybe just a caring company, but because they're so easily switched out, it's really not relevant to the construction. i've never played those ibanez 7s, but i'd imagine the quality of the neck and body construction would be lesser on the korean guitars, thus playing poorer in comparison to japanese made.

Only Played 1 7321 With
DiMarzio Evo
's, Could'nt really tell much differance between that and my old 7621 to be perfectly honest, Upgrading the pickups IS a good direction to travel in imho

Why is spending $350 on a guitar and throwing in some pickups to get one cool affordable 7 string a bad idea?

I didnt say it was a bad idea, I said it was a waste of money.
For just a little more money you could lay your hands on the fantastically priced RG1527, and get something with some actual tone...

well a friend of mine has an ibanez Rg7321 with a
seymour duncan
jb in the bridge, i have to say that i sounds better than my
Dimarzio Blaze
equiped universe, Blazes Suck!!!
the guitar itself feels cheaper than the universe, but for the price you cant go wrong is a really good guitar, just replace stock pickups with some duncans and you are done.
i would like to change my blazes with some duncans (distortion/59 combo) or some emg´s 707 because dimarzio blazes Suckkkk!!!!!!!! a lot.

whats the different between the wizard neck and the wizard II neck? i notice the fretboard is bound round the edge in white?
i have a rg7621 and a rg7421 and my 7621 has a 1 piece
maple neck
no strip up the middle and it feels alittle thicker than my 7421 neck which has the dark wood strip
but i do prefer the neck alittle wider i think the neck on my 7421 is alittle to thin that it become uncomfortable
so is the neck on the 7321 alittle thicker? is it going to be simular to my 1 piece maple 7621 or closer to the 7421 slimer neck?
thanks again guys.

This doesn't make sense to me. An RG7321 with swapped in Dimarzios will sound better than a 1527 with stock pickups. They're both basswood. The 7321 would arguably have better tone, due to the
hardtail bridge
with strings through the body.
Playability may be much better on the 1527, but the tone should be comparable with the improved pups.

Despite the obvoious things the two guitars have in common I think they sound, play and behave very diferently, it may be personal favour interfearing with my judgement, but I think when it comes down to it if you were to swap out the pickups in both guitars the 1527 would winn every time. It's just woth so much more than it's priced.
As for the 7321 it's an okay guitar but considering what's on offer it imo doesn't compare. Feel free to dispute this all you want, I respect your opinion, I just feel very strongly about it.
+ The hardtail bridge creates a different tone, whether it's better or not is up for debate. I'm also sure the lower quality neck and
neck joint
provides more tonal disonance in the mix.
