RG7420 - advice?

I've been offered an incredibly good deal on an RG7420 (as a barter thing for writing some press releases for a music store) ... I played it in the store today and fell in love. My first impressions of this axe are very positive, but I just wanted to scout for opinions. Also, was the RG7620 available in Magenta Crush? Cos I'm not entirely sure that was a LO TRS 7 I saw... I think I'll need to check it out again.

Aside from "Hey, it's a good deal, take it man, at least it's a seven-string," what do you guys have to say about this model?

Well, if it has dimarzio-type pickups (all adjustable pole-pieces) it's most likely a 7620, the bridge you'd have to take a look at too, and I think the 7620 was only available in black and vampire kiss, maybe one other colour.

After looking around on the interweb, I'm certain it's a RG7420MC. Damn, if only the MC stood for "Multi Colour." Hey, anyone know of anybody who does swirls in Australia?

So, according to http://www.jemsite.com/axes/htm_features/spec_ib7.htm this model is made in Japan? Cool!

You can get a 7420 for $299 from US-based ********. They even ship international orders.

I'm getting this one for $200. (That's about $100 US). Brand new.

The RG1527 with the Edge Pro trem (better than the TRS7 on the 7420) will be out soon, and it's most definitely a better guitar.

I'd wait for that.

For a hundred bucks brand new, I think I could cope with a TRS7 on what will become a backup guitar when I can afford a UV777BK.

I shouldn't say what store, out of professional courtesy, since it's a contra deal: PR work in exchange for goodies. But yeah, very happy )

I went into the store and riffed out for about half an hour before work today. I pick it up on Saturday (or possibly Friday). The set-up is terribl - action is too low and the bridge angle isn't forward enough - but despite that you can still see and hear the guitar's potential. It's a shame it has the TRS, I didn't realise how much my style has developed around the Edge. Ah well. For the price I'm getting it for, I'd be a right bastard to complain.

Now my biggest decision is figuring out which colour Dimarzio clip-lock strap to buy. Red will sort of work, but Blue would be a great contrast...
