RG7620 & 7420 neck discussion...?

I've been reading the posts on the 7620 & 7420. I can't for the life of me figure out why the Bubinga striped neck would be on the 7420(cheaper model)and not on the 7620.
With the 6 strings, the bubinga striped neck is on the models with the edge trem, not the ones with the cheap Lo-TRS.
So why doesn't the 7620 come with the bubinga reinforced neck?
Does anyone know? It doesn't make sense to me.
Now I feel like getting a 7420 with a bubinga reinforced neck and swapping it with the neck on my 7620.
Thanks..

John

some 7620s do have the stripe, mine does. but they introduced the "wizard 7 neck" in 2000 so both 762* and 742* had a stripe. the 7620s had been around since 97/98, those didnt have a stripe. the 7420 was introduced when the stripe was introduced and the 7620 was later dropped. but just cuz it has a stripe doesnt neccesarily mean its better. its not gonna break any time soon so dont worry lol.

I took the neck off my 7420 to find that it is stamped RG7620. It has the stripe. As I've mentioned in another thread, I think this may have been a swap in the store, because there is a big chip out of the back side of the tip of my headstock, and they had a 7620 for half price in the same store.

Incidentally, 7620s, which are still widely available as NOS in Australia, retail for about $2600 (about $2100 US with the current exchange rate) and if you can find one second-hand you're looking at about $1800.

No because nobody is buying them. *LOL* If it's not a Maton it doesn't get shelf space here or appear on stages or radio.

Ah interesting, I got my 7420 in 2000 which, as mentioned above, must have been when they dropped the stripe necks. Mine has the Wizard 7, no stripe.

Cheers
Mark.

Ice,
The RG7620s have lo-pro tremolos and the rg7420 have lo-trs. therefore my RG 7string is definitely an RG6720. it doesn't have the stripe. i also checked out some catalogues, and the rg7620 did not have the stripe. if it has a lo-trs tremolo and a striped neck, it is RG7420.

...

I emailed Jerry with the Ibanez register because I was trying to identify one same problem. he said that all the 7620's have the stripe. I ended up finding what you may have a 7420 that somebody changed out the trem on. The one I found they put seymour duncan pickups in as well.

jerry

"the trem is a lo pro, but that also like the pickups could have been changed. as far as I know the 7620 had a bubinga strip throughout its run but this is not well documented. the colour looks like CB cosmic blue (again available on the 7420. so my guessing would be a 7420 with new trem and pickups.
Best regards,
Jerry "

I have bought 3 rg7620 necks, and NONE had a bubinga stripe,I'll take a pic shortly and post it

After 2000 i think they changed to bubinga on all rg7's (i think) don't qoute me on it,i'm not sure on the date
