RG7620s with stock Blazes...

I didn't realise this until I looked at the stats at Jemsite.com, but I thought all RG7620s come with Blazes. According to those stats, nuh-uh. Well they do here in Oz. According to the distributor's website, they're still available too.

Rumor went around that they did in the states, too... Take a close look at them- what color are the polepeices? what color are the base of the pickups? Silver and black, you're looking at blazes. Black and brass, it's the New7's.

Those are New-7's.

There really are a lot of rumors about this guitar, though... like, for a while the spec sheet had it down as having an "UV neck." i believe we've effectively proved that one wrong... but the pickups were reputed to be blazes for a long time. For the original 7620s, it's quite possible- there really weren't any other 7-string pickups out then. but these are clearly New7's, ig their cosmetics are any indication.

For the record, the "Blaze" pickups in the current UV's look just like those, too, and are supposed to sound quite a bit different from aftermarket Blaze's...

The one I played the other day definitely had Blazes. It was a 98 model, brand new, still on the shelves because people are idiots. But I understand Australis Music still have heaps of unsold new sevens from that time.

I dont think they are Blazes, but a cheap copy made by Dimarzio, i have an australian 7620, they sound good but not fantastic...

If you go on the dimarizo web page, and look under guitars that have Dimarizo pups stock, it says the 7620 has Dimarzio p'ups, but not Blaze.

You look under a UV and Dimarzio says they have Dimarzio Blazes

no, this is just the continually lingering effect of Ibanez passing incorrect specs info to their web site and distributors c. 1999 or so. all 7620s had the New 7's, including the original ones in 1997. no 7620s ever had "Blaze" pickups (the same as "Blaze II"), the pickups in the UV and the 540S7.

Well, it's a basswood Ibanez with Dimarzio PU's- that's pretty close right there.
