Right Pickup for my Guitar?

Hi there!

First of all, this is my first thread here, so be gently.

Alright, I've got a problem: I bought a RG7321 a few years ago. (afaik one of the old ones, don't remember when they started selling the new ones though)
I'm very lucky since it's a pretty good one, no dead spots, barely any flaws except for the finish but that's a minor problem for me.

So, I really want to keep it, because It's my first 7-string and I don't like trems anyway, but I'm not happy with my sound lately. It's tuned in A#/Bb standard (sorry I'm not familiar with the english terms) in case you need to know.
When I bought that guitar I immediately built in a Blaze II (neck) and I liked the sound back then but the music I like changed and so did the sound I'd like to have. I don't think the Blaze II can do what I want.

I want a sound that fits to my Lamb of God/Unearth/All Shall Perish style but the Blaze seems too fuzzy to me and lacking mids kinda. (I think I need a rather defined mid'ish sound but still having that "punch" when palm-muting)
I checked the DiMarzio page and several boards, so I found the Air Norton 7, Evo 7 and the ToneZone 7. (I left out the PAF since it doesn't have enough output I think, prove me wrong if I am)

Which one of them would fit best to my kind af music and to my guitar?

Greetings, Clint

PS: Sorry, thread turned out to be longer than expected :/

Welcome to the site. I've never been a fan of the Evo6 in basswood, but the Evo7 is probably going to be good for what you want. Air Norton 7 neck with Evo7 bridge is my favourite 7s combination.

But, there is no right and wrong with this, so expect all sorts of contradictory advice in this thread! A lot will also depend on your amp, technique etc.

I agree with Algiman - evo7 in bridge and air norton/PAF7 in the neck would be a nice solution to what you need.

The 7 string X2N is your absolute best bet for those styles of music.

Re: Right Pickup for my Guitar?

Just reread your post - bro - leave the Tone Zone 7 out of your choices. That pickup blows ass chunks. Its nothing like its 6 string brother. X2N Is nice but very high output and gives back a lot of feedback.

Re: Right Pickup for my Guitar?

Hey,

thank you for all the replies!

@VaLDeZ

Thank you for searching the original PickUps. I am aware of the fact that Lamb of God does not use DiMarzios, nor do they use 7-Strings.
But within the last years I came to the conclusion that it's not only the equipment defining the sound. I guess, even If i had one of their signature guitars and a Mark III (or whatever they use right now) I wouldn't even sound close to what they do and I wouldn't want to sound like them anyway, I want my own sound but with a "presence" and "punch" like theirs, if you know what I mean.

Plus, I think Ibanez chose DiMarzio Pickups to be in their guitars for a certain reason.

@the rest

I think I will give the Evo 7 a try, thanks!

Greetings, Clint

Edit: What about that F-spaced thingie? I need the not-F-spaced version since I have no trem, right?

Re: Right Pickup for my Guitar?

"F" is as in Fender, not Floyd, so whatever kind of bridge you have is irrelevant. If you had an RG321 or similar, you would still want F-Spacing.
Do Dimarzio 7's even have a choice of F spacing?
