routing questions.

ive got two questions before i start my custom 7 string.

1. how deep can the wood be for a 3-way blade switch to function properly, and what width and length does the slot need to be?

2. how deep should i rout the pickup holes for an EMG 81-7 and 707?

Depends how high you want it to sit from the body In theory, you could probably screw them to the surface of the guitar, you'd just have to have really really high action
