Sanded raw Apex II... anyone tried it?

So i was thinking....

i have a blackjack C-7... love the mahagony and the pickups, but i miss that Ibanez feel.

the ibanez apex II has that good ol familier feel, but i don't dig that finish. however, i think if that thing was sanded down it would look dead sexy! anyone ever tried this?

Depends on whats underneath. Also you'll probably have to clear coat it or do an oil finish.
It would look pretty good though.
