Secret Pointy Guitar Obsessions
With all the choices of guitars nowadays, have you ever find yourself secretly wanting that "pointy" guitar from yesteryear? *You know, that one guitar your favorite metal guitar hero played 10 years ago but you NEVER bought? *Well, I seem to be going down "nostalgia" path lately. *:-) *Since I only play 7-strings, up until the past 1 1/2 yrs. there hasn't been many choices except for Ibanez. *Although Ibanez's are great guitars and own/owned several of them, I bought a Epi
Les Paul Classic
7-string last summer so I could get that classic sound and feel. *Now, I feel the need to get a "pointy" 7-string to satisfy my "metal" cravings. *I am just in love with the BCRich Warlock 7-string w/ the Widow Headstock. *This just SCREAMS metal! *The Warlock was the guitar I absolutely drooled over as a kid, but never got the chance to get one. *I'm seriously thinking of getting one. *
My question is: *Has any of you had this same nostalgic dilemma regarding the "pointy" guitars of yesteryear? *To understand what I mean by "pointy", see most of BCRich's production line. *I'm also nuts about the Mockingbird too. *I can't decide! *Ahhh...too much pressure! :-)

Secret Pointy Guitar Obsessions
I find I have more and more reserved tastes... but, those 80's guitars are where it's at! *I love that old Manowar idea of wielding your guitar like a weapon and having it look like one too (yes, I just made a Manowar reference). *Any guitar with 2-3+ sharp edges on it is okay with me. *As for BC-Rich... get a neck-thru Warlock 7-string with the widow headstock. *You'd probably have to literally throw me out of your house if you had that.
Stuff like this makes me want to play guitar right now:

Ya, I miss the pointy guitar thing too. *The local shop has a BC
Rich Warlock
in the red acrylic that is screaming my name. *I just can't warm up to a 35 pound guitar LOL
But it sure looks sweet!

Whoaaaaaaaa! *Yes, you really had to put that picture up, huh? *:-) *I'd love to get the neck-thru custom Warlock, but unfortunately, I don't have $1200. *I might have to go a step down and get the NJ model. *Those aren't too bad, especially when you look at the crappy Platinum and Bronze series....yech! *They do make a "NJ
neck thru
" series, but not a 7-string version.
I know what you mean by HEAVY, Jeremy. *Although the acrylic guitars are cool, *I think my
Les Paul
is about the heaviest guitar I'll ever own. *I d*mn near dislocated my shoulder picking one up. :-)
P.S. *If I ever get a Warlock, I'll have to buy one of those "bullet belts" to match. *HAHA! *

What do you guyz think of the BCRich quality? Every time I pick one up in a shop it just doesn't seem that solid, the action on them is pretty stanky.

I use to own an old 80's warlock. It was one of my first guitars, and one of the nicest I've played. Back befor they started releasing a lot of not so good models. Now the other day I played a custom warlock 7 with some crazy sound chambers in it. The thing rocked Neck through and solid as H. E. double hockey sticks. Realy beyond sweet for the heavy riffage
only problem i found is the thing was so thick at the higher frets (from 14-24) that you almost couldnt bear it. I guess im use to the 2027 and 7631, but man it felt huge like a 2x4.

Secret Pointy Guitar Obsessions
Hey all, you just started talking about my area! *POINTY AXES!! *I have an old B.C. Rich IronBird from 82. *The damn thing will not surrender! *Let me tell you, USA B.C Richs are made to last. *VERY good guitars. *The imports are good for the price...but not as good as the customs. *I highly recommend their custom axes. *I also have a GIbson XPL (explorer on steroids) and some weird red guitar that looks like a bushido blade. *Hehehe. *The Jem 7vbk and 2027 of mine are good, but...they just dont feel like a pointy guitar. *I love the way the hang. * *Right now i'm having a custom made 7 string done through Norton. *27 fret with high A. *Using a .07 for the string, and a
reverse headstock
with
graphite nut
. *(greatly reduced tension on the string) *I designed the body and i will post pictures as soon as i get it. *Basically...try to imagine a B.C. Rich Beast, 2, yes i said 2 jackson kellys, a Hamer Scarab, and a twisted imagination combined into one axe. *Along with the wildest finish i was able to dream up. (its scarier that Dee snider in a dress!) *Anyways, for pictures of my axes go to
http://avantguarde.cjb.net/
* and click on "the band" and click on apostolis. *Scroll down and there will be a list of my axes. *Click to see pictures and ocmentary.

Are you talking about the weird can-opener looking flying V that the guy from Kid Rock plays? *I think it's a Washburn? *I think it's pretty cool looking, but I'm not so sure about Washburn's quality. *I had a Washburn that looked pretty cool, but the fretwork and the neck were just horrible.

Secret Pointy Guitar Obsessions
Well, I took the 1st step in satisfying my "pointy guitar" GAS. *I ordered a black B.C. Rich Warlock 7-string w/ the widow headstock,
Floyd Rose
7 bridge, 24 frets, & diamond Inlays. *I am also ordering EMG707 pickups for all of my guitars this week so I should have some slammin' metal machines before long! *
They said the guitar will be here by the end of next week. *I'll post a review before long. *So here's the rundown of my 7-strings and an explanation for each.
Ibanez RG7620 - I sold my UV777BK because I wanted to customize an Ibanez 7-string. *However, messing up a UV777BK would've been blasphemy so I sold it to free up money for my customizing project on my RG7. *Hey, I'm not rich, I wanted to keep the UV. *:-(
Epiphone Les Paul
Classic 7 - I wanted to get the classic style, feel, & sound of a Les Paul, but with 7-strings. *YAY, I'm ver happy with it.
BCRich Warlock NJ7 - My soon to be pointy metal guitar that I've always loved, but with 7-strings. *A metal machine for sure. *Nuff said.

have you seen the jackson 2001 site? *they yanked the ke1 (
marty friedman sig
) and i think they yanked the kv1 (
dave mustaine
), but im not certain on that. * they did introduce a ke2T, where it's string through body to replace the ke1. *oh and it has a neck p/u, whereas the ke1 only had a bridge p/u. * yep.
