Selling 6-stringed guitar...

Well.. I bought a RG1077-XL just 2 weeks ago..

And I must say I love this instrument..
Therefor I am thinking of selling my 6-stringed guitar and always buy 7-stringed with XL necks..

I can't see why I should set my standards lower?
Anyone else felt like this? I'm really gonna miss my 6-stringed guitar.. But the ibanez blows it away so I might just sell it.. Even though it will be like a dagger through my heart..

I still have my 6-string, but it hasn't been played since I got my 7-string. I'll probably still bring it out for a few songs. It makes a good back up guitar for my band right now, cuz we do mostly covers, and I don't need the 7th string, it just helps instead of having to retune from drop-C, to standard, to C#, to drop-D, etc.

Its been about five years since I've owned a six string. No regrets here.

I've been playing 7's for about a year and a half now, and i still haven't sold my 6, an american standard strat. Why? Couple of reasons... Single coils vs. humbuckers, and even a true coil-tapped 'bucker (not the parallel mode of the neck 'bucker on Ibanez'z split-5, but a real coil tap) can't compare to a single coil in terms of tone, the strat is fixed bridge so weird tunings are easier, while you can play most drop-D stuff on a standard-tuned seven, some you just can't so the flexibility is nice, and i love the tone of alder and think the strat detuned layers beautifully against my 7's. That, and thumb-over-neck stuff is really toughon a 7, and when you get right down to it, i'm still emotionally attaced to the 6.

So, unless you really need the money, hold onto it...

try boosting that parallel position sometime with an eq pedal...you can get some serious spank out of the ibanez that way. i run a dod (yeah, i need to upgrade it to a boss) bass eq to boost and shape the stock pups on my 7620, and the "single coil" positions are fantastic!!!
