Seymour Duncan 7 string PU production halted?

I noticed that Duncan, no longer has the 7 string models on their site, so do Jackson, Schecter and ESP with the 7 string guitars. Only Ibanez still makes 7's............

I don't recall Duncan ever really having a dedicated 7-string section. If you look under their regular Humbucker product listing page, it still says which models are also available in 7-string versions. Duncan 7-string pickups have always been a semi-custom-order product anyway.

I know that, but they're in the humbucker section:

Did you actually go and read the model description page? The '59, JB, Distortion, Custom, Jazz and Invader models are all still listed as being available in 7-string versions.

Their 7-string pickups were never listed as distinct product model numbers. Nothing has changed.

SD will still custom make them even if they cease to be a standard production models.

Dimarzio, Rio Grande, and Kent Anderson all make 7 string pickups and on their site, Duncan still lists the 59, the JB, the Duncan Distortion, the Duncan Custom, the Jazz, and the Invader as being available in 7 string versions as well as the Benedetto S7 and B7 which they make under license.

I've been looking at the duncan website for quite a while, browsing for 7 string models, and I haven't seen any changes there :P

I sincerely hope they're still available, because I've been trying to get a Jazz 7 for quite a while now

Get a Benedetto if you want a real jazz pickup.

Duncan actually manufactures them; may help explain a lack of availability if that's the problem you're facing.

I've had a couple, and they were nice. But they're also $150 each with no discounting and need a whole lot of routing to install.

They may be 150, but you only need one, right? I was just thinking about getting one for my 175, but I've never heard anything about having to route a guitar to get one in. Is that specific to the 7's? I was thinking about getting a B-6 for the neck slot, but I certainly won't route the top to fit it in.

WIth a 175 you should have no problem. I put a B6 in an archtop about 10 years ago. I was no problem and sounded great.

Jackson still has 7-strings as a custom shop option.

I asked someone about that one, but I was told that the Benedetto was for hollow body guitars. I'm getting this for a solid body RG7.

If you're looking for a nice warm jazz tone from the neck pickup, I've been using a Dimarzio PAF and I've been really pleased with it, happy enough to have put it on 3 guitars in all.

Well, I just got the SD jazz today, and put it in my guitar... I'm pretty sure I botched the wiring, but my first impression of the sound is that its too bright for my taste. It might be because I also have new strings on as well. I think I'll look into the PAF.

BTW, I could realy use some help with this. More at http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=23390

Thanks!
-Bennett
