Should I Route RG7620 for Blaze S/Coil???
Hey guys,Just wanted to whizz this by ya'll,I'm seriously thinking of routing out a s/coil on my RG7,now,in anyone's opinion,Is it really worth me doing it?
I would also need a blaze s/coil (hint) I'm really only after doing this for the extra tone's i'd be able to get,I have a Blaze neck/Evo combo and think that the s/coil would just add that little extra Oooomph,Or should i just stuff it and try and get hold of a uni body ?
Kindest Regards
Rob
P.S. My routin aint to bad...Check it out here...

I was thinking the same thing about a 7621 I just bought. I think it's a good idea if you're comfortable with it. Question is are you ready to refinish or do you think you can do it witout messing up the finish?

If you put duct tape down first the paint wont chip.
Don't use cheep router bits either.
Then just brush paint the inside to match.
Once the pickup is in you wont even see the brush paint job.

Go ahead! I am a recent convert to the middle PU.
If you do mess the finish, a cheap solution is adding a pickguard instead of a refin.

If you're going to go to the trouble of routing for a single, you may as well get a GOOD single in there and no the crappy Blaze.
See the thread from earlier this week about alternative 7-string singles.

The Blaze sucks rocks.

Hmmm So the Blaze is pants then,What are the chance's of DiMarzio doing me a full set of 7 string breeds ? Slim to none i reckon.
Yeah i feel absolutly confident about routing,Not messing up the finish,Hmmm If i do i'll be forced to ship it off to Darren at ATD :-)
Will keep ya all updated anyhow !
Thanx for info

Duh,Forgot to add,The only reason i mentioned the Blaze is there relatively cheap and i'm on a shoestring budget,Having been out of work for over 2 years with a knee injury,So if i do go for something special i'll have to sell to buy.

I say don't. The combined humbucker tone from the 7620 rocks. Also, if you're on a tight budget, if something goes wrong here, you'd be killing your main 7-string.

If something did go wrong (which i'm confidant it wont) i'd probably just build meself a scratchplate anyhow,But I agree the combined
humbucker sound
is sweet,Especially with my
evo bridge
and blaze neck combo,Which is why i have thought about push/pull vol and tone pots so i can just turn the hums off and single on etc...Wether this can be done or not i have yet to discover
