Thanks Drew Thanks Wolf...

Hello,

Wanted to thank you guys for all usefull advices and info about EVO/TZ/Blaze in mahog...

I have just installed EVO7 in my K7 and could not be happier.

The tone is massive, very rich in harmonics, has very long sustain and it's bruttaly precise which is so good for the low G string...even that low it retains the super defined attack and the high mid spectrum...

But, there is one thing that blows me away and I never expirienced on any other pickup, dimarzio or duncan...This thing is soooooo dynamic and cleans up amazingly well when you back off volume..
I ussualy play around with volume as I play so I hate over compressed pickups, and EVO7 is just perfect...I can set insane amount of gain and still get a usable cleanish tone with volume control...

So as far as Im concerned...2 thumbs up for Evo in Mahog..

Nice, glad to see another fan around here, it's a killer tone.

I remember being able to dial up great southern rock sort of tones just by backing off a little of the volume on a distorted amp setting, with the Evo - take a good lead patch and drop your guitar volume from like 10 to 7, and you're in roots-rock heaven. It's really surprising.

Glad to be of help. I never advocated using the EVO7 in mahogany, but hey, if you're happy, that's what really counts.

So, you tune your low string down to G, eh flesh? I go to F myself

Yeah, you were always more of a Blaze Custom guy... I'm half-considering throwing one of those in my 7620, though - thoughts? it's a bright guitar, so I have doubts, but I'm not too sold on the TZ, and it's going slightly microphonic - two birds with one stone, etc.

Well, I think the BC is a nice pickup, but like you Drew, I'm a Blaze BRIDGE (not custom) fan. I happen to think the BC would work good in basswood/alder/ash etc., and so recommend it there. But the Blaze Bridge kills in middier woods (like my 2027). Still, I'm very curious to hear the BC in the 2027... I'll probably buy one one day and see. I have my pickups wired so that I can swap'em out without soldering. Only takes about 5 minutes or so. I'd REALLY love to hear the 2027 with EMG 707(neck)/EMG 81-7(bridge). I'm a big fan of active pups.
