technically this is a 6-string question, but i figure you guys had a better chance of knowing.
I'm looking into a 6 that i can string B-E-A-D etc. something that had a very warm thick tone (H - H)with a scale length of at least 25.5". i want one axe that has a playable, standard neck. Any axes that are popular de-tuners? I checked out schecter scorpion but i wouldnt mind some other options.

I've seen it done to pretty much anything:

PRS
Les PaulsIbanez SC XL (k, this one's cheating technically: *Staind G# tuning!)
Even Fender Telecasters

Pretty much anything, you just gotta use thicker strings. *Also, take a look at anything with a 27" scale if possible.

Exactly. You can sling just about anything with some lower strings and go to town. Just use a .50 odd gauge or thicker for that low B, and you're good to go. Maybe what you're in the looking for is mmm... something with a fixed bridge and 2 humbuckers... try perhaps a Carvin. Great guitars, neck thru... with a neck thru fixed bridge, you'll have sustain forever. Plus, they're pretty much custom jobs, and they're CHEAP! (Relatively... not Squire cheap, but cheap as compared to other guitars of their caliber. I'd say the low-high end range.) Of course, a Les Paul, a PRS... any of those would do swell. But realistically, just about any 6 would work.

pick up a used ibanez RG at a pawn shop or used guitar store and throw some thicker strings on(see if the guitar shop will set it up for "B to b" for free or a small fee). you can find some nice used RG's at awesome prices. I have an S470(with tune-o-matic) that has a lower scale length than 25.5" and it is just awesome for downtuning as long as i have the proper string gauges. i use D'addario or ernie ball 7-string sets(depends on the guitar).

you could also find a used rg7621 or rg7421 and be just as happy.
