If you haven't seen anyone played an 8 string guitar, definitely check out Charlie Hunter's video at http://www.charliehunter.com and also his videos at guitar.com
His instrument is actually a combination of bass and guitar, 3 bottom strings are bass strings and top 5 strings are guitar strings. It's just amazing.
He actually took lessons from Joe Satriani when he was young.

*ok, that is just wrong i tell u!!! its just not right!! but i still want one! i would love to try that multiscale fretboard they use, it must be amazing.
