What pickup for RG1527, Duncan JB-7 or Dimarzio Evo-7?

I'm planning on tuning to A-standard and play melodic/death metal. I would like to know out of those two pickups which has the crunchiest tone and the tightest low end? I plan to disconnect the tone cap on my guitar for more clearity. I'm not looking to pay $200 on a Lundgren pickup. I really don't see the point in that. I'm sure it is not leaps and bounds better than a Evolution or EMG-707. I like the EMG-707, but I want to make sure if there is a passive 7-string pickup that I will like just as much instead. No routing plus it will cost less. Thank you for any advice.

EMGs can have a kind of sterile, transparent sound from what I've heard, although the clarity is awesome. The Evo however, is alive and kickin'. I would go with the Evo7.

I'm going to second the EVO 7. It's an ass-kicker of a pickup.I think it's leaps and bounds better than the EMGs (for heavy rhythm, too, not just for leads).

i have to agree on teh evo 7 as well, i have one and the boosted midrange really gets rid of that transparency problem and it keeps everything clear and sharp.

I personally recommend the JB-7 and EMG-707, especially for melodic death metal. But then again, Carcass's Bill Steer used RG-7's from what I understand, and his tone on Heartwork was incredibly godly! So the EVO-7 may be a good bet.

For what Emg707 is doing, the treble of the evo-7 is a very good thing which he'll probably want.

the emg 707 will make your 6 string power chords sound somewhat thin. the evo seven is great, i play melodic/death/grind type stuff in A and i absolutely adore the evo
