Re: what strings do you have on your 7?

I use D'Addario EXL120-7 .009-.054
However, the first 6 strings are the same as a regular packet, so I may replace those with cheap Harley Benton strings a few times while leaving the old B on.

From Low to High on my Jackson COW7

B - 64
E - 49
A - 36
D - 26
G - 17
B - 13.5
E - 10

The tension of the strings raises as the strings get thicker. Giving a more meaty tone and extra clarity for chords.

D'Addario super light plus set and a single 56 for 7th string:

9,5-11,5-16-24-34-44-56

Very nice for standard half step down tuning on 25,5" scale, especially if you like set of 9-54 tuned to standard on 25,5" scale.

So how big of a jump in tension is there between 10s on a 25.5" scale and 10s on a 26.5" scale?
Well I tune the Loomis down 1/2 step so the difference in Tension is very minimal. 10's feel "right" on the schecters (to me anyway), I've had 3 and I always use 10-56 on them.

I'm using 12-54 for the top 6 and a 64 for the lowest string in standard tuning on all my 7's at the moment. Very chunky

Re: what strings do you have on your 7?

I just use the Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom (10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 52) and an extra D'Addario 60 on the bottom, with everything a step down.

I have been considering switching to lighter strings on the top end, as I don't believe that I've ever been lighter than a 10, but A) Don't know if I can be assed to reset the bridge, and B) I'm not sure if anything lighter would be able to take as much whammy abuse. Any tips?

I love the Ernie Ball Beefy for 6 string. But where do you get the single 68? (or 65, etc etc)

Elixir's. Won't use anything else. They last 5 times longer than any other strings I've used, so the additional price is more than covered.
