Yup, no doubt about that one.

As for my strings, on my GAX I've got elixers. Light/heavy set with an added .068 low B. Most of my fellow players don't like the feel of that low B but I love the way it sounds.

On my Baritone-7 I've got a set of Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky's with an added .060. It's tuned down a step and a half though. Wish I had Elixers on there though.

Dean Markley Blue Steel 9-56s. Basically a 9-46 set with a 56 B string.

Re: what strings do you have on your 7?

On my 7 string i use Ernie Ball Beefy slinky's 11-56 for the first 6 and then a Ernire Ball 60 bass string.....tuned standard (BEadgbe) The only thing that sucks is that the bass string ball end sticks out of the back of the body but it really just bother me all that much unless its rubbing against my hip...other than that it sounds REALLY nice........And if you didnt notice its obviously a string through bridge......

Now I'm just curious but why are you using a bass string? I know for a fact they make guitar strings bigger than that. Was it because of the different tone you get from a bass string?

It was actually because thats all they had a GC when i went there and then i got curious and tried an actual 60 guitar string and also a flat wound 60 and for some reason the 60 bass string just felt ad sounded better to my ears.......and plus it soundes cool when you say i have to use a bass string oon my 7 string......

@ibby7stringer

Fair enough! I was just curious cause I used to have an .080 SS bass string on my baritone before I decided to change the tuning. I do agree though, the sound is a bit more satisfying from a bass string once you get into the lower registers.

Hi All, I have an Ibanez rg 2027VV with D-Activator in the bridge and I have been using Elixirs in it - I use 10 13 17 26 35 46 56 - they don't make a 7 string set - I just buy the separate 56 and add it - I love them, the tone and the feel.

I too have a 2027-VV and an RG 7620-VK, I just use the EB Hybrid Slinkys and buy a single 0.56 for the B string.

My 2027 has the DiMarzio Tone Zone 7 at the bridge and a DiMarzio Air Norton 7 in the neck.
My 7620 hs the Evo 7 in the bridge and AN-7 neck.
