I don't think there's ever a 9621. If you're talking about the one that's on that auction site, I'm pretty sure that's a 7621.

The way Ibanez designation works RG9621 would have to be a 9 string guitar.

Does that mean the RG 1550 is a one string guitar?

7 420, 7 620, 7 421, 7 421XL, 7 621........do you see the idea behind it?

I'll explain for those of you who are numericaly chalenged.

7 xxx - 7 string version of xxx

That designation was used before the 15xx and 25xx that's why the 7 string RG has been known as 1527 for the past 2 years.
That's xxx7 - 7 string version of xxx or in this specific case of 520 which is h/h guitar.

Yeah, and their poorly thought-out numbering system totally goes out the window with models like the RGT42 (neck-thru RG420?) and the RG15271 (fixed-bridge RG1527?). Even their colour coding system is screwed up with other model designations. (GK means Galaxy Black but it also means Roland synth ready.)

Well, just to add fuel to the fire of this:

There actually was an RG9570, and it was a 6 string guitar.

There's a lot of RG8xxx guitars on Ibanez Japan's site, in the J-Custom section, none are 8 string.

Those were customs.
7 string RG's designation always strarted with 7xxx apart from the 1077 and 2027.
Regardless - if this was some sort of extended scale, maple top, unseen before 7 then I would believe the designation but as it looks like stripped and varnished 7621 (and the guy says so himself)

The CB in the 1527CB is for "cosmic blue" and is actually purple. Not sure who is making up the numbers or calling the shots on the colors but whoa.. they are way out there..... At any rate the guitars still rule and that's the bottom line for me.

Even when things looked good, the Shocking Pink was made out as SK. Ever heard of the LSN and DNW?

Edit: Now I know why they named it SK and not SP. The SP was too close to ESP! Must be it!
