I was very surprised at the prices when I first read about them last year and I have wanted one ever since. I don't really care what anyone says about Alex or his guitars -- they are damn nice, especially the Z2-T, and Alex is not the ripoff merchant some people seem to think he is. Dealing directly with him via email proved to me that he is a very honest, decent bloke. It's just so trendy to bash Alex and Zachary guitars and I'm not about to jump on that bandwagon.

Now a JEM, that, to me, is an over-priced guitar. That's why I have been playing RG's for so long. You'll find many people here who also agree they are over-priced. Remember the thread we had a while back? I can't believe people are talking s**t about Alex's prices yet are suckered in by the JEM thing.
I now have a candidate to inherit one of my Z's if I die or can no longer play!

Many of those other "custom" guitar places don't make instruments by hand. Most of them even outsource the cnc necks and bodies from other places like Warmoth. Then they just paint them, bolt them together and stick whatever name to the headstock they want... It's not the same as what Alex does at all. It's true that he has another business. This is what allows him to be so honest on his website. He tells things how he see's it. There is alot of truth and humor there. Just don't take it so personally and realize the man is simply trying to make a contribution.

Re: Zachary 8-string

Say it aint so....

Most "normal" people would think his remarks are condescending and arrogant.....along with a few other adjectives. I think that's one of the things that alot of people have a problem with.

Would you call Alex humble?.... Well, I like people that are little more restrained.

I don't care how good or bad his guitars are.

As a matter of fact, this is my last comment on the matter....Everything you know about Everything is wrong!

Enjoy....

Do you remember the thread about hand made vs CNC?, what's the point in paying the extra for something that can only be less quality and what the hell is the point in buying his guitar - that minus HM is worth half as much as a similarly priced mainstream guitar, the price counteracts his entire argument about people being ripped off by other companies. If he cared that much about people being ripped off he'd CNC his guitars instead.

No one is bagging the guitars, I just wouldn't want to put money in the pocket of that w4nker.

Bro,here's the thang, You equate "quality" w/ numeric consistancy!!! You've bought into the paradigm that because a CNC machine can produce consistant bodies and necks to the Nth degree, that somehow that equates to quality and anything that isn't to that Nth degree is lacking!!! That may be true when Yer building high performance engines or micro-chips for computers, but it doesn't neccessarily equate to Art or Craftsmanship!!! If Yer like Steve Vai, and Ya want production guitars that all sound and feel the same, then that's the way to go, but if that's not what You're neccessarily after, then that's not Yer only option!!! Since i found Zachary, i've retired all of my CNC production guitars because, frankly, they don't stack up!!! They don't sound as good(to my ear), they don't play as well(to my hands), and quite honestly, it's pretty nice knowing that i'm playing one of a kind instruments that the builder poured his heart and soul into!!! i own 7 Zacharys w/ an 8th on the way, and they all feel different, but they all feel and sound GREAT!!! Inspiring is a good Synonym!!! If that's not quality and consistancy, then i don't know what is!!! i've played my share of Hand Made guitars before Zachary, and i thought that none of them were worth a damn!!! Especially for the prices those fellas were charging!!! They were more like interesting pieces of furniture w/ pick-ups and strings, and they just felt nasty to me!!! When i stumbled upon the Zachary site, i was intrigued by what Alex was saying and figured that his "ballsy" attitude was evidence of his conviction, and that he was way too proud to put out Crap!!! i took a chance, and Boy was i surprised!!! Actually, i was totally blown away by how well Baby(my first Zach) performed, and immediatly fell in love!!! Since then, Zachary is all i'll play!!! Well, actually, i still play my Godin and Jeff Beck Strat cause they have the Roland Guitar Synth systems, but when my Zachary Busywood SG shows up, those are most likely History!!! i might keep them around for back-up,though!!! All i can say is that til You've actually played a Zachary, You have no idea what Yer missin'!!! The only reason that i tell anyone about them is cause i want others to be blessed too!!! My Dad once sat me down and said, "Bob, You can go to school and graduate w/ staight As, but if You can't think for Yourself, You've Failed!!!" i guess all i'm saying is, try to keep an open mind and realize that Marketing Hype is just that, HYPE!!!>

peace and respect,Bros!!! >

I dont think anyone is insulted by it. It's just such a stupid arrogant thing to say, it is funny. Funny that someone can be that stuck on themselves and still get followers.

Re: Zachary 8-string

I got the name of that thread from Esquire magazine. I wish I could claim that I wrote something that got so much attention.

Here it is again in case you forgot: http://www.esquire.com/the-side/qa/guitar042307

Bobby is trying to tell us about his guitar and all anyone can talk about is that other thread that got closed. Maybe it should be opened back up!

Re: Zachary 8-string

That does look like a nice 8 string, I'm not going to lie. $2500 doesn't seem too bad of a price to me for what it is, which is a custom guitar. And the frets actually look REALLY good. I'm impressed by this one. I call it how I see it. Things weren't looking too good from what I saw in the other topic but I'm impressed by this 8, as arrogant as Alex might be or not.

Of course knowing me I don't have the money to spend $2500 on a guitar, but if I had the money and wanted an 8 string, I don't see why this would be a bad choice.
